This will be a great clinic for anyone who is wanting to train their own horse. Dusty will start you from the ground
up with your colt showing you how to start your colt in a gentle way. You will start with ground work and progress
on to the first saddling and first ride. With safety for the rider and horse being put first, Dusty will not allow you to
move on until he feels that you are both ready. Dusty would like to have participants use a rope halter and
nightlatch, but it is not required. These are available at the ranch for purchase.
This clinic will be held at our ranch. There is camping available at our ranch or lodging is available in Davenport
and Wilbur for those of you who are not local. We plan on having lunch available at the ranch all weekend.

Ranch roping is a great way to learn the basics of roping. It is not to be confused with the fast paced sport of
Team Roping. Ranch roping is slow paced and used for a variety of ranch uses including branding, doctoring sick
cattle, and roping horses. There are several different shots that will be taught. You will learn when to use the
different shots depending on your position to the cattle. You will start out on the ground learning roping basics
and the different loops. Once you are good at the loops roping the dummy from the ground, you will progress on
to your horse. Once your horse is used to the ropes you will start roping the dummy from horseback. If you and
your horse are both doing well with the dummy and it is determined that you can safely move on you may
progress on to live cattle. If you don't have your own rope you can either borrow one of ours or purchase on at
the ranch.
Ranch Roping Clinic $250.00, or $100/day

Well, we are still working on them. If you have any dates that would
work great for your group or club, let us know and we will see if we can
get something set up. We are still open to clinics to finish out the 2009
year if anyone has and indoor facility and would like to sponsor the
clinic. Just contact us for more information!!
Below is a description of what each clinic consists of. Of course there is no set
"schedule" for each clinic and if you have a special problem or questions, please feel
free to ask! Dusty will gladly work with each person as an individual and help them with
their needs.
Ranch Riding 9 am - until everyone is done for the day
|
While many of you won't be riding on a ranch everyday, there are still aspects of ranch style riding that will come
in handy in your day to day riding. We will take you out on the open range and expose you and your horse to a
wide variety of obstacles. These obstacles include but are not limited to: riding in sagebrush, crossing water,
riding in water, rocks, hills, getting on and off, riding in groups and riding away from groups, wildlife sightings,
cattle, and more! With over 10,000 acres of land available to ride on there are a lot of things to expose your
horse to. Dusty will work with everyone to help you through any situations that may come up or any known
problems that you and your horse might be having.
